Sustainability

Nikben Sustainability

With sustainability and ethical sourcing still at the forefront of industry conversation, we like to follow our own principles and journey in establishing the best practices for this growing business. We strongly hold the opinion that sustainability is something that should be part of every person’s day-to-day regimen, and particularly so in their consumer trends. We’ve come a long way since the day we released our first pair of swim shorts and, to this day, we continue to pursue new methods to reduce our environmental impact.

Made to last

Our goal has always been to make top-quality clothing that can be worn over and over, year after year. Durability is always close to mind, and we want to educate you — our dear customers — on how to make your garments last as long as possible. Interested in learning more? Check out our care guide.

Oeko-Tex certified

All of our products made from cotton carry the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 label.
This certification ensures you that every element of our garments, i.e. every thread, button, and other components has been tested for harmful substances and that the article, therefore, is harmless for human health.

One man's trash, another man’s treasure

Thanks to our friends over at REPREVE ®, all our packaging and swimwear are made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. REPREVE ® has been at the forefront of sustainable innovation for decades, and we’re very proud of this collaboration. Their sustainable textiles help make our swimwear collections into what they are today. We strongly believe that recycling waste and turning it into reusable products plays its part in reducing pollution. Let’s be honest, when the possibility to reuse materials that we already have an overabundance of is there, it feels like a no-brainer to stop making more of it and use what we already have.

Turning oldies into goldies

We're all about keeping things sustainable in our industry. You know how it goes, the fashion world can be pretty wasteful, and that's a real shame considering the energy that goes into making each piece of clothing. That's why we've resolved to never let old or reclaimed products go to waste. With Nikben's Upcycling Initiative, we've adopted a creative approach to repurpose our older items, transforming them into new, eco-friendly products. Check out our upcycled collection and help us do some good for the planet!
